Harry Meadley

Harry Meadley is an artist, researcher, and Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Leeds Beckett University. Recent projects have used festival creation to explore and challenge access and inclusion in public space. Civic Skateboarding was a festival co-created with non-traditional skateboarders, various local arts organisations, and civic institutions as part of Leeds 2023 that sought to create safer and more inclusive spaces for street skateboarding. While Side-by-Side, started in 2025 in collaboration with Touchstones, Rochdale, brings together local organisations, creatives, and communities to realise their artistic ambitions and tackle social isolation through a new annual festival for the borough of Rochdale.

Where the Magic Happens

‘Where the Magic Happens’, sculpture by Harry Meadley, 2011.

Image Description:
The artwork photographed high up on a white wall in the White Column space. A white shoe box sized form protrudes from the upper part of a white gallery wall. It is positioned so even a tall person would look up at it. The box’s surface is the same white paint as the wall. The corners and panels of the box are not perfectly square and sticks out from the wall length ways.
